Gene believes in South Georgia agriculture. He recognizes that Georgia remains largely agrarian, and the success or failure of Georgia's economy rests on the shoulders of the South Georgia farmer. However, immigration reform continues to threaten this industry. As State Senator, Gene will remind politicians in Atlanta why the current immigration laws against migrant workers is hurting South Georgia.

The Georgia Work Release Program for prisoners is not a reasonable solution to the shortage of workers. It fails to meet the needs of the South Georgia farms. Instead, Gene supports the guest worker program to help migrant workers legally work in our communities and to ensure the success of our farmers and their crops.
